About Manager (Geophysics)

Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation is hiring for the post of Manager (Geophysics) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan.

The Manager (Geophysics) will be responsible for leading and executing geophysical programs for mineral exploration on an open contract basis. This role involves comprehensive management of geophysical operations from planning to interpretation.

  • Plan, design, and execute integrated geophysical programs for mineral exploration using magnetic, gravity, ERT, IP, MT/AMT, radiometric, and other suitable methods.
  • Define survey grids, line orientation, station spacing, acquisition parameters, quality-control procedures, and technical specifications according to target geology and exploration objectives.
  • Lead and QA/QC field acquisition, processing, quality control, interpretation, and integration of geophysical datasets.
  • Supervise the calibration, mobilization, operation, maintenance, and demobilization of geophysical instruments and field equipment.
  • Process and interpret data using Oasis Montaj, ZondGM 2D/3D, EarthImager, RES2D, Voxler, MagMap, Surfer, GIS, Global Mapper, and related software.
  • Apply appropriate corrections, filters, derivatives, enhancement techniques, forward modelling, and inversion methods to produce technically reliable geophysical outputs.
  • Integrate geophysical results with geological mapping, structural interpretation, remote sensing, geochemistry, petrophysics, drilling, and assay data.
  • Develop integrated 2D and 3D subsurface models to determine target geometry, depth, continuity, structural controls, alteration patterns, and mineralization potential.
  • Identify, rank, and prioritize exploration targets, and recommend follow-up surveys, trenching, drilling, or other appropriate investigation methods.
  • Prepare technical reports, maps, sections, models, presentations, scopes of work, cost estimates, tender specifications, and exploration recommendations.
  • Manage geophysical databases and ensure data validation, coordinate-system verification, metadata documentation, secure archiving, traceability, and controlled access.
  • Supervise geophysical teams and contractors while ensuring compliance with approved survey designs, project schedules, budgets, HSE requirements, and recognized industry practices.

Eligibility and requirements

Applicants for Manager (Geophysics) must hold a relevant degree with significant experience in the field.

  • Education: BS/MS/MPhil in Geophysics or Applied Geophysics (Preferred Ph.D) from an HEC-recognized institution, with a minimum of 16 years of education. Higher degrees in Geophysics and relevant professional training shall be preferred.
  • Experience: Relevant 8 years post-qualification experience after completion of BS, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or technical lead role.
